I didn't know if I was going to do a post about the resolutions I've made, but I figured I would! While the resolutions I've made that involve health are important, there is one resolution that is even more important...
Be more present.
What exactly does this entail? Being attentive to the people I am choosing to spend time with. Too often we find ourselves glued to our cell phones and TVs while we are spending time with others. Within the past year, I've realized how often my friends will stop mid-conversation to answer their cell phone. It got to the point where I started to feel offended when people would be texting or would answer a call while we were hanging out. Note: I'm not completely innocent and have made some of these offenses myself.
How will I be more present? My text message ring tone is never on, and now I'm keeping my phone on silent more often. This is pretty typical for me because I'm in school or at work most of the time. Also, if someone really needs to talk to me, they should call. No more impersonal text messages for me! So, no playing on the internet while talking on the phone and no texting or answering calls while hanging out with people. The overall goal for this resolution is for the people I spend time with to feel important. The last thing I want to do is make my friends, family, or boyfriend feel unimportant because my mind is elsewhere.
What are the resolutions you've made?
